Awe and wonder on two wheels

Sport, indulgence, exploring Switzerland: Our "triathlon" does not follow the well-known rules – and yet begins with a sporting discipline: cycling. As hardly any other means of transport is better for exploring Switzerland in springtime – and for ensuring enjoyable wow moments time and time again. Whether you jump onto a touring, road or electric bike is entirely up to you. "Switzerland Tourism" has put together suitable bicycle tours to suit all tastes.

If you are drawn to Ticino, "Hotel Lago Maggiore" is the ideal stopover – it has its own bike workshop as well as washing and drying room for your biker’s gear. Afterwards, the bustling arcades of Locarno invite you to take a leisurely stroll. The "Ghisla Art Collection" and the indoor and outdoor swimming locations are also worth a stop before continuing on charming cycle routes along or high above Lake Maggiore.

Hike and indulge

Our spring "triathlon" continues on Switzerland’s hiking trails – or more precisely: into Engadin. Clear mountain air, many sunny days and over 580 kilometers of varied hiking trails await you there. A classic among them: the "Via Engiadina". It crosses the entire length of the Engadin and links numerous picturesque villages and landscapes. The approximately 160-kilometer route is divided into 6 to 12 daily stages – but can also be experienced in sections depending on your fitness level and enthusiasm.

Along the way, charming hotels, inns and restaurants invite you to an enjoyable rest with a view. Two special recommendations: the stylish "Conrad’s Mountain Lodge" with steam bath, sauna and Kneipp pool in Silvaplana and the charming and elegant "Meisser Resort" with its spacious hotel garden and its own gym and yoga house in the village of Guarda that features in the famous Swiss book "A Bell for Ursli". But beware, there’s a risk you may never want to leave: With so many amenities, you may be tempted to postpone your hike on the spot.

Off to the "Tour de Golf"

Between Lake Geneva and Lake Constance there are over 90 golf courses, many of which are in landscapes that are well worth the trip in themselves. So why not expand the "triathlon" into your very own personal Tour de Suisse – or rather "Tour de Golf"? Start your spring project, for example, at the largest golf resort in Switzerland: "ClubGolf Sempach". With its spectacular location, it is an unforgettable experience not just for golfers. The golf club meets the highest quality standards – on and off the pitch. For example, in the "Le Club" gourmet restaurant, which tops off the golfing experience in Central Switzerland.

On the list of golf courses from "Switzerland Tourism" you will find numerous other possibilities to sink the round in style. If you want to refine your style on the course, book golf lessons at ClubGolf in Sempach, Kyburg or Saint Apollinaire – the golf set is complimentary as a gift.

Or would you prefer to watch from the sidelines?

If you love sport but prefer to watch rather than join in, you’ve come to the right place with the Women’s European Soccer Championships 2025 from July 2 to 27. At the same time, the tournament offers the perfect opportunity to (re)discover eight exciting Swiss cities: Basel, Geneva, Zurich, Lucerne, Sion, St. Gallen, Bern and Thun. During the tournament period, the hosting city centers are transformed into lively festival zones with public screenings, concerts, DJs and a cultural supporting program.

Take the opportunity to also explore the charming old towns, museums and the impressive nature around the stadiums. In Bern, walks along the river Aare invite you to while away the time; in Geneva, the lake beckons with its iconic Jet d’eau; St. Gallen impresses with its world-famous abbey library, while Basel inspires with its renowned art and culture scene. Each host city has its own charm.

By the way, Basel has come up with something very special for the opening match and the final: As a cultural ambassador – and to set the right mood – the city is rolling the legendary "Klamauk" tractor by the Swiss artist of kinetic works Jean Tinguely onto the pitch. It’s going to be loud! Let yourself be carried away by the atmosphere and experience Switzerland at its most diverse. Because our relaxed "triathlon" through Switzerland does not end with a final sprint, but with a final whistle. Go Switzerland!
